This friendly seaside city has the perfect blend of excitement and relaxed sunny beach vibes during your English language course. Our school is located just off the Old Steine Gardens - a gorgeous greenspace with a Victorian fountain and a beautifully crafted War Memorial. The teaching facilities are modern and fully equipped - with free WiFi, a student lounge and multilingual staff should you need assistance at any point during your Club 50+ English language course.

Brighton’s coast is lined with an eccentric array of shops, cafés and vendors sure to have something for everyone on their shelves. There’s always something to see or do at every corner, never leaving a dull moment. North Laine is a must-see when exploring Brighton — it’s vibrant and energetic atmosphere in part due to the phenomenal street art covering most buildings. North Laine also gives easy access to The Lanes, which is another Brighton gem.

Of course, one of Brighton’s main draws are the beautiful sea views. From time spent soaking up the sun to strolling on the Brighton Palace Pier, you can easily spend a day on Brighton’s pebbled beach and surrounding areas without getting bored. The Victorian pier is home to Brighton’s famous Fish & Chips restaurant as well as a fairground and arcade.

Brighton’s Royal Pavillion is an absolute showstopper that cannot be missed during your language course. Mixing Regency and Indian architecture with a Chinese-inspired interior, the Royal Pavilion is certainly a maximalist masterpiece with plenty of eye-catching details to keep you enthralled for hours.

Club 50+ course in Brighton

The 1-2 week English course is composed of 20 lessons per week in the morning, followed by immersive cultural activities in the afternoons. Each lesson is 45 minutes in length, and students will have breaks from 10:45 am-11:00 am and 12:30 pm-13:15 pm. The course is suitable for students of all levels, however, students studying at an A1-B1 level will join the mixed age English lessons before joining the Club 50+ activity programme. Class sizes are small — with an average of 6-8 students per class, creating a comfortable and tight-knit environment as you focus on your studies.

The English lessons will cover the fundamental components of the language — such as grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Students will gain skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening to improve their overall comprehension in English. Lessons are heavily communication based where students can practice their speaking and listening with fellow classmates.

Accommodation

Students can stay with a local Host Family during their course. Host Families provide the perfect opportunity for students to further immerse themselves during their studies. Host families can allow students to practice their conversational English with native English speakers in a supportive and encouraging environment during mealtimes or in the evenings. All Host Families stay a maximum of 50 minutes from the school by foot or public transport. Students can stay in Shared, Single or Plus Single room during their stay.

Single and Shared rooms are simply furnished and include storage. Hosts will provided bed linen which can be washed on a weekly basis. Bathrooms are shared with hosts and other students if present. Shared rooms can only be booked by students travelling together.

Host Family Plus rooms include a private bathroom as either an ensuite to the room or next door. Bed linens are also provided and can be washed on a weekly basis.

For either room option towels are provided by the host, but you will need to bring your own toiletries.

Shared and single rooms are available as either Bed & Breakfast or Half Board, while the Host Family Plus single room is available at half board. Half board typically includes two meals per day - breakfast and dinner, provided by the host.

*Please let us know if you have any allergies or dietary restrictions at the time of booking so the school and Host Families can be informed.

Activities

Activities during the Club 50+ English course will depend on the season in which you book. Some example activities and excursions are guided visits to iconic Brighton landmarks such as the Royal Pavillion, Theatre Royal, cream teas in Rottingdean and more!

Excursions to neighbouring areas such as a day in London sightseeing with a cruise on the Thames, an afternoon in the gardens and walls of Arundel Castle over in West Sussex, or a tour of Chichester Cathedral which boasts England’s third tallest spire. Full day excursions take place on Saturdays, while shorter excursions take place on weekdays after lessons.

All activities, excursions and tours are conducted in English, so you can be sure to remain fully immersed even outside of the classroom. This will also give students the chance to interact with their peers as well as locals, gaining confidence in everyday conversations in English!

The course was good, my accomodation was excellent, clean and near the school. The host family was excellent as well. They were all friendly and we could talk a lot. I have learned a lot about the life in UK with them.
